Most people who can't get this look to come out the way they want are using the wrong tools. Begin with a curl-enhancing combo of shampoo and conditioner, then follow with a similar styler. When hair is completely dry, wrap small sections around a beveled edge flat iron or the barrel of a curling iron. Now for the secret: don't clamp the tool around the hair and roll up! Instead, hold it at an angle and wrap the hair around the tool–away from your face–like the swirls of a candy cane.
Hair spray is almost always viewed as a finishing product–but you can use it as a styler, too. Before you flat iron or curl, lightly mist each section of hair, keeping the bottle at least 6 inches away. Then brush out the section and proceed with the hot tools.

Easily hold and section hair–without snagging or leaving indentations–so you can focus on styling one section at a time
